Servers gamespy down and up? was created by Mix
Hello,

Anyone of you experience problems lately?
When I create an internet game, my friend does see me, but he can't join.
When my friend creates an internet game, I can't see him at all in the list.
But sometimes I can see him when I enter his ip address in the favorites box, but
it often takes up to 10 / 15 minutes before I can join, until then I only see "????" under Maps
So, we can barely play now.

We both have windows 10.
Hostfile is altered
ipv6 is disabled
iphelper is disabled
and we did the flux etc....

Any suggestions please?

TIA

Hello

We have QTracker or you can add
the servers manually in the FAVORITES list in game.

Let us know if you've fixed it...

That's what I said: sometimes it works in the favorites list, but most of the time not.
I have forwarded ports 11001/11004 and under special applications in my router I had only port 11001. Now I have added 11002/11004 too. I don't have the time now to test it. Maybe tomorrow.

But about that Qtracker thing.....
does that bypass the gamespy servers or does it redirect to gamespy servers?

You mean you created the server from in-game? Okay. It worked for me too
sometimes and sometimes not. QTracker is for joining other servers online.
I've never used it personally, I add IP/Ports manually and then Refresh the
FAVORITES list.

If you can forward ports, then you can Start Your Own Server .

Well, I can host a game, but when someone wants to connect, he get's an error: wrong cd key. The cd key is valid, that's for sure. It always worked and it is a valid key from a long time ago, when I bought the game.

I also tested a LAN setup with both Zero Tier and Hamachi. Both vpn's don't work.
I have used that in the past with another game and that worked really well.
I can't get it to work with H&D 2.

Well, I think my options are gone now.

If your friend is using Steam or GOG version, it assigns a default key to the game on each startup of the game... :tooth:
It needs to be changed manually in regedit which you can access by pressing Windows Key + R and typing regedit in the box. :gj:

After that, you need to go here > Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Illusion Softworks\Hidden & Dangerous 2 and edit the "Key" string to include some other key. :beat:

Also, if your friend is using the widescreen fix it also inserts default key, to fix it go to Scripts and open HiddenandDangerous2.WidescreenFix.ini in which you need to type InsertKey = 0 command which will prevent the fix from inserting the key
