I see where you're coming from, my mother was definitely willing to put my father in his place when he needed it too..
With that in mind, I do feel as though the issue is a tich more complex, and tends to have less to do with 'weak' and 'strong', and more to do with power. The unfortunate truth is that many people find them selves in situations every day - both professionally and in their home-lives - where another individual has forced them into a corner where they are powerless to stand up for themselves, and from experience they cannot trust this individual to be entirely benevolent in this position. This is the root of domestic violence, sexual assault, and even though statistically it effects more women annually, men can be equally as vulnerable to exploitative relationships.
