I've already said it : " There are two kinds of ships, submarines and targets. "
COMPTUEX (C2X) exercises : French submarine Saphir ( S602 ) fictively sinks USS Theodore Roosevelt ( CVN-71 ) and most of its escort.
EDIT : Well, i have also read several French posts about that.
My opinion : Concerning the escort of USS Theodore Roosevelt, The Aviationist speaks about, i quote " several Ticonderoga cruisers or Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and a Los Angeles-class submarine ". According to Wikipedia, Ticonderoga class seems more anti-aircraft equiped crusers, also for Arleigh Burke class , multi-role destroyers which seems more anti-aircraft vessels, equiped with the Aegis system.
What i mean is that, in this case, the best US weapon and main oponent to the Saphir was maybe the US Los-Angeles class submarine .
So, my opinion is that, in this virtual duel SSN vs SSN, the verdict is clear : US submarine has failed and French submarine has won.

After the disaster made by the cyclone Pam in Vanuatu, Australia, New-Zealand and France are the first countries to bring tangible assistance, sending aircrafts with first aid medical staff and first emergency materials.
