GP500 (1999)

I was cleaning today and found this old game I used to love and play a lot. With not too much trouble I got it to work on Windows 7 even if it was designed for windows 95 or 98.

To this day it is hard to find a good motor racing game that is not too arcady but still playable.
I wish I had a better controller for it. I now played it with a Logitech Rumblepad but it is hard to be subtle with the throttle, steering and especially braking.
After some practice laps I got some of the old feeling back.

I do a quick 4 lap race. Qualified in 6th place, finished in 4th after losing the lead...Oh and the fact I took my team mate out of the race was his fault :) I did a rudimentary technical setup for my bike, soft tires, opponents are at 70% difficulty. I know there are custom tracks for this game and I am hoping for some graphics mods, gonna search.

Really doesn't look like '99 to me Jo.

I remember playing a lot of Delta Force Land Warrior when I got
my first computer exactly 15 years ago.

What can I say, it is 1999. Does it look older or newer to you?

If you like old school Formula 1 you should check out Grand Prix Legends from 1998 in which you race cars and tracks from the 60's, when men were still men :). Awesome game and the community has made graphical upgrades for it so it still looks pretty acceptable. It is still ONE OF THE BEST RACING SIMULATORS EVER. Not kidding. But hard to master and unforgiving.
