Africa 1 Duel Request/ Fix


Hello Engineers! :cowboy:

Our good friend and member of this staff, Richie, has been working on converting Africa 1 coop mission to the Deathmatch duel map on my request. He has done a great job on the first part, but he has run into some errors. We need help. The request is simple and if you'd like to help, please download Africa 1 Duel map.

Don't worry about the mpmaplist, that will be updated to include only uniforms and head gear. The rules of the tournament will be posted/ updated on the official Tournament page. For now it's a few requests/ fixes necessary so the tournament can become official.

The scene takes place at the Abn-Sin-Oan Airport where Allied and Axis troops organized a truce and arranged duels for their most enthusiastic troops. There are animated characters from both Axis and Allied, plus players can join in and enjoy the show. The tournament duels are to be organized by the tournament host.

Request #1: Spectator Crowd

The duels will take place on the runway in front of the main building on Africa 1. Richie has already added some character animations. I would like some variety on the crowd animations. Both Axis and Allied characters would be cool to have in each side of the runway. Simple animations, like standing and looking, smoking cigar or laying on their back, looking cool. Anything that doesn't get bugged or creates other problems. It would be perfect if possible to add different characters, not the same character with a different animation.

Note... add items to characters inventory if possible. They should never get alerted/ aggressive if hurt.

Crowd 1 should consist of 4-8 Allied + Axis characters on this side of the runway.



Crowd 2 should consist of 12-15 Allied + Axis characters in font/ on top of the main building. It would be cool if the script of soldiers playing poker at the table would actually work, if not, please remove them.




Request #2: Toilet

Richie has already added a special room with crates where the duel participants can get their weapon and ammo specific to each round. This was not necessary as there is already an equipment/ storage room inside the main building. Since this map doesn't have a toilet, please add one here. after removing the crates. You can find toilets in Africa 5 or Arctic 2 :D

Replace the gate with a normal door please




Request #3: Storage Room

The event organizer/ admin will start the server, spawn in and get a key to the Storage room for players to get their gear. Please note that players will spawn without gear, so only Admin can give access to weapons/ ammo. Other players can join to spectate at each duel, but they will not get equipment. This is why this room/ gate needs a crete near to it with a only one key the Admin can take.

Once the gate/ door is unlocked the two duel participants can pick weapons and ammo from crates. Preferably this should be unlimited if possible. There should be 5-6 crates on each side of the room. Left side for Axis equipment. Right side for Allied equipment. Each with a similar crate. The crates will be as follows, each side (Axis/ Allied) with it's own specific weapon selection in each crate:

Crate #1 - Pistols, flare gun and knives
Crate #2 - Bolt action rifles
Crate #3 - Semi auto/ Auto weapons
Crate #4 - Machineguns
Crate #5 - Snipers/ Shotgun/ Silent weapons
Crate #6 - Explosives(Nades, Bazooka)

Plus some ammo crates.



It would be cool to not have character animations get bugged after each map restart. I don't know if best to have spawns only at the main building or if this can cause problems if more players join.

Any other ideas are welcomed.

This Duel Tournament is a simplified version of Matro's DM Tournament and will help get some attention and publicity to this style of play.

It's a simple request for those experienced with making missions. I don't know exactly all the setbacks of creating DM maps from Coop missions, so please notify me here.

Yes i had problem with storage room.

1/. The original weapons in locker room. disappear around 15 second on spawn.
Don't recall is scripts, i checked didn't see what issue was.

2./ The ammo box also is ghost in locker room, but is available still to user. just don't see box.

3./ I checked sectors, i changed sectors also, i added over ammo boxes - over weapons. same issues - ghost, disappearing items.

4./ just few issues.. I animation of actors. they loop animations and add some speech to actors.

5./ Maybe that i need to change something in files or is it because its dmatch / not coop map anymore and the server reacts differently to deathmatch.

little issues. if i can find the time i recheck map out.

Weapons / items get deleted from scene in DM modes !
Go to DM server and check it, drop your weapon and it will disappear soon.

2.
Check if this ammobox has same Sector Name as room.


Ally / Enemy are usable in DM modes ???
I remember game crash if enemy got shot in DM.

The one who hesitates is lost !

First of all I don’t understand if it’s meant to be co-op or death match. That’s maybe because I haven’t played the mentioned specific game style yet.
In death match, also as in occupation or objectives game styles, no NPC’s can be used, that’s what the “crowds” would be. Once I added some to an occupation map, but they only appear in first round, probably not on a dedicated server.

In co-op you can’t play axis vs. allies as already mentioned before somewhere. You can only be ally and will be disconnected after 3 team-kills. Maybe the admin can handle that.

As for the specific issues, the invisible ammo box in the storage room is placed just a bit too deep, if lifted up it will be visible in that sector. The other objects to be picked up there are inside the items.dat file.

Scripts for bot animations of the card players should be found in the cut scene scripts of Africa1 SP.

Toilet is too much effort imo, a simple Donnerbalken will do. With some research you’ll find out what that is. :beat:

Thank you for your quick replies.

It's a Deathmatch map converted from the Coop Mission. Nothing special, except a few equipment boxes, a box with a single key to access the supply room and some animated characters.

The "toilet" room can be removed as that was not intended in my plan. I think Richie added it to fix glitching into that room, but you can do it at the door anyway, so that little room can be deleted.

The animations work for now. I need to test again if the map is restarted what happens. On the first version the scripts would not work anymore. It's just that it would look awesome to add more NPCs from both Allied and Axis' different characters.

Anyone that can start working on the suggestions is of great help.

1. Remove the small room created in the back
2. Add crates as described above, in the locked supply room with only one access key
...and if it's possible
3. Add some NPCs with animations to make it look like a crowd... on both sides of the runway.
