- The opportunity : Grab it for free in the dustbin of your parent's building.
- The deal : Check it and eventually make it work.
- The B plan : Throw it in the dustbin of your own building.
Well, not really for the console itself but i would like to have a Blu-ray player.

First bad [strike]not really a[/strike] surprise : There's no HD.
Btw, pretty blue light isn't it...? The reflection of my screen saver...
Opened the power supply : APS-239, it's an original 80Go.
Pretty clean, just a very minimum dust inside.

Wow, it really has a mains filter inside the power supply
I have seen a lot of switching power supplyes that are missing filter caps and has a "bridge" wire in the place where the winding should be.
Oh and be careful with the 2 big electrolytic capacitors, the can store charge for a long time and the voltage can be up to 325V (230*1.414-(2*0.7)) rough approximation really...

Thanks for that Stern. Basically, i'm just a mechanic but, since around 1994, i know something about that discharging of capacitors, as i experienced one on my left arm during the cleaning of a PC power supply. Huge blue spark, occupational accident, one week home and several papers for my boss to provide to several offices of French administrations who are fond of... We both were pretty happy...
