Yep Damni, this is right. Opinel has presently 2 manufacturings, one using stainless steel and one using carbon steel.
Of course, carbon steel is exposed to rust but the advantage is that it sharpens more easily and, if you compare 2 well sharpen blades, one in carbon steel and the other in stainless steel, often the carbon steel blade cut better...
EDIT : Here's a trick: You can put a drop of olive oil in the blade locating from time to time. That prevent rust and also feed the wooden handle...

Here's the one that my friend Sebastian gave to me, when he was back from Tchad with his regiment...
It's hand made by a guy in Tchad, using recycled materials... Don't know if there's blood on the blade...
