A grey seal on New Year day at the Fire Department of Lorient

As last year at the same time, fire brigade welcomed a young grey seal in the Fire Department of Lorient (Morbihan). They were called at about 1:45 am on Sunday by walkers who discovered the marine mammal failed in the seaweeds of the beach of Kerroc'h, near Ploemeur. Department head at Océanopolis Brest, Sami Hassani made the route to get back the animal. Over there, he will join the dozen seals who are looked after and fed to pick up and be able to return to the sea …

A Spanish "musher", a driver of dogs of 53 years, was saved by his animals which protected him from the cold and went to seek help, on Monday evening in Vercors mountains in the South-East of France, while he had felt faint during an outdoor tour.

While he had left at about 5:00 am for a buckle of 10 kilometers, around Vassieux-en-Vercors (Drôme), only his huskys returned to their point of departure at the beginning of the evening. A neighbor Polish musher then redid the path and discovered in forest the unconscious man in the snow, its dog of company, a cocker spaniel, slept on him.

He takes him back to his camp, before fire brigades, PGHM (mountain Gendarmerie) and SAMU (emergency medical service) take care of him. Helicoptered at Grenoble hospital, he his now out of danger.

Definitively man's best friend...
