Btw, speaking about the last two pictures of your post above, depending on the cap of the soldiers, i'm pretty sure this is the French Foreign Legion, maybe in Bir Hakeim or somewhere else in Africa...

Yep, must be Indochina, because they used boats over there and now i take a better look and, on the picture with the cat drinking canned milk (or whatever), we can see a French Navy soldier on the left, wearing the French Navy cap called "bachi".
