I installed HD2 from original disks and updated to 1.12.0
I did not install Sabre Squadron expansion.
My hosts file includes additions:
65.112.87.186 hd2.available.gamespy.com #hidden and dangerous 2 check
65.112.87.186 hd2.master.gamespy.com #hidden and dangerous 2 heartbeats
65.112.87.186 hd2.ms14.gamespy.com #hidden and dangerous 2 server list
Feldmarshal was kind enough to send me his ServerList.bin file which I copied to the PlayersProfiles directory. Clicked Favorites and Updated list.
=RpR= servers remain grayed-out while ATK and other servers are available.
Was I supposed to download and run “setup_hd2c.exe” in addition to the steps mentioned above or did I miss some other step?
Thank you for your assistance,
Paul

Strange, if you have a current serverlist.bin and 1.12 patch you should see RpR servers. (click "refresh" in favorites, update should be unavailable).
Also you should see RpR servers throught he hosts file so somehow this suggests a version problem.
Also with the hosts file, you did do the 2 steps of flushing dns and the other step?
Try my serverlist.bin (but probably won't make a difference): HERE

BTW, I am wondering if maybe not having Sabre Squadron installed may be the problem? Easy enough (if you don't have it) to download and install.

So like Stern said in the chat box:
Because coop was introduced with the release of Sabre Squadron.
...and HD2 should be started using HD2_SabreSquadron.exe to play coop ! With hd2.exe coop servers are unselectable.

Thanks NL, Sabre Squadron produces a huge operating system error (outside of memory limits or something) when I try to install in Windows 10. I'll try reinstalling HD2 without 1.12 upgrade and try installing Sabre Squadron at that point. I will update.
