Qtracker server list problems - "Retrieving data..."

3 years 10 months ago - 3 years 10 months ago #7 by Maletzki
So who is the problem here?

I doubt it's Windows. I tried WinServer 2k19, WinServer 2k12R2 and even Windows XP. And on XP there should be even no problems, because Ipv6 doesnt exist.

Also my server provider (Hetzner) cannot be the problem, because Contabo (provider of RpR) is also affected. It also could be Telia. Who knows.

So there any not many options:
1. Qtracker have some problems with their Gamespy emulation
2. Data sent to Qtracker is corrupt
3. Qtrackers server provider is the problem
4. "Gamespy emulation is going down on 8/1/2017. The forums are down temporarily so I don't have to listen to people complain."

I already sent a mail via http://qtracker.com/support.php but it seems its not working anymore.

Is there any way that someone of us can emulate Gamespy in that way?

Edit: Quering the server is always working > https://avmg.eu/hd2_viewer/ - I found no problems there. That is much strange.

Then this list should contain corrupt data:

Have you try to run servers on this XP without edited Hosts file ?
Then no data is sent to Qtracker.
You know the ip:port and you can test it and you can post ip:port here for others to test if its necessary.

It cannot be Qtracker because if the data is loaded into "multiplayer game internet" list inside game and you re-click the server, then this clicked servers info is refreshed by straight query request from your computer to this server that you clicked, no Qtracker is involved !!
Same goes for servers added to Favorites list.
And same goes if you click Refresh List

But AVMG servers were non-selectable in both lists...

One thing i remember is if host-client game versions dont mach then the server is also gray (not selectable)

Well, no I didnt tried it. Have to rent a new Ip for this - always cost money.

But when it's not Qtracker, what is it then? It cannot be Windows, when XP is also not working.

Do you use Steam version of HD2?

Yeah that's true, but in this case the problem is, that the server is going grey with changing max players to 33, game mode to Deathmatch and "Retrieving data". Strangely enough the server is showing correct data when you hit "Update List".

Cant you run test on this server you used before ?? The one with XP ?
Just run everything like before but without Qtracker...

I use regular version of HD2, not GOG not Steam.

"Update List" receives data from Qtracker...

33 players is over the limit that is why it gets bugged.
32 is max.
So I guess its the main problem here.

*But i have strange problems on this MiDu's servers, sometimes connection is lost after maybe 10 min of playing, then i cannot do anything in server.
have to re-connect.
It might be just my network fault.

I tried it not on a local machine. I did it on a Dedicated Server with a XP VM. And it cost money. But will do it tomorrow again.

I know more then 32 slots are not supported, but the test server had 16 slots.
