Windows 10 automatic update/ cant start hd2 now

Windows 10 automatic update/ cant start hd2 now was created by Blackakres78
Screw windows. I was operating happily with windows 8 here and then tonight I came home to a computer that
had installed windows 10 without my apparent consent. now i can't even open my hd2 here. can anyone tell me what
i need to do now to play again?

i have the no cd-patch installed on my computer and when I click on it i get nothing.
do i need to re-install and start from stratch?

From our FAQ:

Game does not launch on Windows 10:

Execute setup.exe (run as administrator)
Turn full-screen anti-aliasing OFF
Lauch HD2.exe / HD2_SabreSquadron.exe as administrator


There's a a white line on top of the screen with Windows 10:

Run HD2 setup (setup.exe, in your HD2 main directory) and turn "vertical synchronization" on.
Trust is hard to gain but easy to lose.

You may also check if DirectPlay is enabled on your Windows version.
Enable DirectPlay

But usually Windows 10 checks that if you (try to) start HD2 the first time..

Ok, that worked like a charm. I am up and running.
So, is there a way to get rid of the white strip on the top of the screen?
