H&D1 map conversion

H&D1 map conversion was created by culticaxe
Hello everyone, I would like to announce that I am working on a "brand new" map called "Italy1" from Hidden & Dangerous 1. It is the very first mission of the game's campaign.

At this moment it is planned for co-op only, but it can be easily changed to deathmatch/occupation/objectives

Here are some pictures:

As you can see custom models and textures work fine:


The map you can look at isn't pretty but it works:

Right now I am working on the models from the old game.. to give it that original look to it. (I'm quite picky on that not to use HD2 models :D )

Nice idea culticaxe!

How did you import H&D Deluxe map to H&D 2?

I assume by converting i3d to max and then to 4ds right?

I'm using 3D Studio Max R3.1 on a virtual machine with Windows XP to convert the .i3d files to .3DS,

then .3DS -> .FBX with a newer version of max,

and .FBX to .4DS because the newer version of Blender doesn't support 3DS at the moment it seems...

It's quite a rough way to do it but it's worth it :D

Thanks for the quick reply!

I don't like the 3ds format too much, because it has the tendency to change the textures names (materials) upon export.

I think that you could try instead: i3d to max, max to obj and finally obj to 4ds. This way the materials name would be the same.

If you like i could try to import other H&D Deluxe maps to H&D 2 for you. I have 3ds max 3.1, 3ds max 2010, 3ds max 8 and other modelling software. I managed to import few H&D2 maps into H&D Deluxe on the other hand for testing purposes.

I haven't had any problems so far with the material names. Everything was preserved for now.

If you like, sure!

Maybe you can convert "Italy2"? With the original textures too? If you need any help with them, or with the scale settings just ask me, or contact me in steam.

Other than you guys, I roughly know BetterYouThanMe, Zdenda and NilsZ with H&D1 experience. There must be others that could help with this project.
