The Nuremberg Raid

With the lost of 106 aircrafts and 545 crewmen, this night raid remains in history as the worst of all WW2 for the RAF Bombing Command.

The only good raid movie is The Dam Busters from 1955. I haven't really seen
anything similar... maybe Memphis Bell, but not that great.

About historical WW2 bombings, there's also Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo by Mervyn LeRoy but IMHO it's a bit Yankee propaganda movie.

During the night, 84 troopers of the 1st Amphibious Commandos Group of the Argentine Marine Corps, under command of Lieutenant-Commander Pedro Giachinoare, are lowered in Mullet Creek from the destroyer ARA Santisima Trinidad of the Argentine Navy onboard 21 Gemini assault crafts.

The Falklands War begins.

April 4, 1915



During the night preceding his departure for the Russian front, Hans Leip , a young German soldier of the Imperial Guard, writes a poem entitled Lied eines jungen Wachtpostens.

Set to music in 1938 by German composer Norbert Schultze and recorded in 1939 by German singer Lale Andersen , it will become one of the most emblematic songs of WW2, Lili Marlen .
