Well NL, this problem with the G500S really looks as a faulty design, bad point for Logitech ... 
For me, since a couple of months, i'm using a Roccat Lua. Cheap enough, working ok but maybe a bit "light" built, using light plastic material. I'll see how many times it will last. Also, some extra buttons would have been welcomed, but i suppose it would have been much expensive...
