More about performance:

From the Arch Linux news: Increasing the default vm.max_map_count value

The vm.max_map_count paramater will be increased from the default 65530 value to 1048576.

This change should help address performance, crash or start-up issues for a number of memory intensive applications, particularly for (but not limited to) some Windows games played through Wine/Steam Proton. Overall, end users should have a smoother experience out of the box with no expressed concerns about potential downsides in the related proposal on arch-dev-public mailing list.

Maybe it's worth looking into this as well if you need a little performance "kick".

You can see the current value used on your system with:
Code:
cat /proc/sys/vm/max_map_count

If you're on Arch Linux, just update the system.
Fedora and Ubuntu should already use this value.
For other distributions: check their documentation on how to change this.

Thank you, Damni

65530 here. Your gamemode find already helped this old PC run H&D2 smoother and without having to restart my game

Hello, I have a small problem maybe someone can help me.
I have installed HD2 with Wine as described in the instructions. When I start the ServerLauncher, everything works. However, there are problems with the ServerManager (v2.9). When starting the server, the message “type help for help” is displayed in the console and the server terminates with an error. The ServerManager log only shows “IDLE Error”. What could be the reason for this?

No idea. We have a thread dedicated to hosting on Linux I guess it's not supposed to work properly on Linux.

By chance I came across the news that DXVK 2.4 has been released.
https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases/tag/v2.4
Perhaps it can improve HD2 gaming experience even further?
If it doesn't, take this post as a reminder that Linuxy stuff moves on and might be worthy checking things out every now and then

Don't forget we've got this great post by mökki medium about all this stuff.

Or if you're lazy (like me) I highly recommend checking Lutris out.
It allows you to switch to many wine versions, dxvk version and a ton of other options.

I've also updated the first post with the new IPs for the hosts file.

The RPR Clan gaming community has long been known to fans of action battles and online battles. Fans of dynamic games gather here to share their experiences, participate in competitions, and enjoy the atmosphere of teamwork. Every evening, players from different countries can be found on the server, which makes the process even more interesting and unpredictable. Interestingly, gaming often intersects with other areas of entertainment. For example, in the world of casinos, special attention is paid not only to the thrill of gambling, but also to the design of the venues, where every detail creates a unique atmosphere. In this regard, it is worth paying attention to the article on how the world's most impressive casinos are created and what elements allow them to make such a strong impression on visitors — ahouseinthehills.com. The article reveals architectural solutions, gaming spaces, and aesthetic approaches that can surprise even those who are far from the gambling industry. Thus, both the esports community and the casino world share a common idea: to create a space where people can fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere, feel the thrill, and experience vivid emotions. RPR Clan gives this to its players through online battles, and the world's best casinos do so through their unique design and atmosphere.
