Headed by the chemist and military psychiatrist Sidney Gottlieb, the project MKUltra of illegal experiments on human subjects, is started by Allen Dulles, director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Edit :

Just for saying, Dulles was the first civilian at the head of the CIA and Gottlieb was a specialist of chemical weapons... Curious, no...?

After 13 years of research and intense competition between public and private labs, the Human Genome Project is completed.

For the record, i add that i'm a little proud to have brought my five cents to this international project. Indeed, in 1990, the new laboratory Généthon , part of the Evry University and which will be integrated with Genoscope , French National Sequencing Center, will call us for its computer equipment. In this context, i myself commissioned a CAD machine in this laboratory, which will be used for 3D simulation. I also had to quickly train two scientists to use it on that day, and i still wonder what they would have thought if they had known that i didn't even have the baccalaureate degree ...

The last battle of Senegalese riflemen finally French

Francois Hollande will preside Saturday at the Elysée a naturalization ceremony of 28 former Senegalese riflemen who fought in the ranks of the French army in Indochina or Algeria, 57 years after the independence of Africa.
The tirailleurs were called Senegalese because this body was created in 1857 in Senegal. It included soldiers from all French sub-Saharan colonies. There were also skirmishers from North Africa, Madagascar and Indochina. The regiments were suppressed during the independence of these different territories. But some soldiers served until 1965.

Among these 28 tirailleurs, there are 23 Senegalese, 2 Congolese, 2 Central Africans and one Ivorian. Born between 1927 and 1939, they live mainly in the Paris region and will thus regain a nationality that they had lost to the independence of the colonies in 1960.

"I do not understand why we do not have French nationality, we were born French, we fought for France! Ndongo Dieng, 81, from Senegal, is looking for photos of an official Bondy ceremony in which he participated in June 2016 as a former French fighter. "Every year, we lay a wreath, we skirmishers. Today, the one who was a colonel in the Algiers is housed in a 17 square meters of the social foyer of the city, and receives 335 euros per semester.
:(
Respect for them, finally a little of gratitude for their sacrifice, I am ashamed to be French sometimes !
