Today is very reflective day for many of us (not only for Polish people).

My picture of the day:

Today Plac Wolności, earlier Wilhelmplatz... So many people ready for killing...

65 million of dead, and some ink on a sheet of paper...

September 2, 1945

Six years exactly after its beginning, the Second World War ends with the unconditional surrender of Japan.

The consequences of this war already carry in them the germs of the World War I. French side, the loss of Alsace-Lorraine will aggravate the spirit of revenge and the nationalist feelings until the explosion of 1914.

Edit :

Just an anecdote about a photo of the post of Morty: the lower left image is due to Alphonse-Marie-Adolphe de Neuville. This painting is called Les dernières cartouches (The last cartridges) and is an illustration of the famous battle of Bazeilles .

In this battle and for the first time in French history, a division of Troupes de Marine (marine troops), The Blue Division , gathered the "Marsouins" ( French Marine Infantry) and the "Bigors" (French Marine Artillery). It consisted of following units:

- 1st regiment of Marine Infantry of Cherbourg
- 2nd regiment of Marine Infantry of Brest
- 3rd regiment of Marine Infantry of Rochefort
- 4th regiment of Marine Infantry of Toulon
- 1st regiment of Marine Artillery of Lorient

The anniversary of the battle of Bazeilles corresponds in France to the Marine Troops Day.

The question comes up for me, does anybody know, if there was ever a century in Europe, without any war?
Is warfare a sign of a "civilized society"?

In the ages of the crusaders, it was the european christians who behaved like a wild horde in oriental countries and/or kingdoms far away from here. And these ancient oriental peoples are considered to be much more civilized from our perspectives nowadays, as the cruisaders once had been.

A question of will for power and domination. We even invented the economic war...
The proof, we are up to the neck there...
