Well, it's not a secret, i'm a former soldier of the French ALAT, so i could not ignore this...

The French army head of staff announced that on March 12, the last two helicopters of DETHELICO (helicopter battalion of French task force) left Afghanistan. They made their final flight on February 24.

According to the French ministry of defence, from 2006 to 2013, the 1300 soldiers of the DETHELICO have flown more than 5,000 missions,
of which nearly 4500 dedicated to fighting or tactical transport.

Here are the pictures extract from the official slideshow of the French ministry of defence, relating this story...

EDIT : In order to save space memory on the servers, i decide to remove the pics and to put a direct link to the slideshow on the governmental defense website. Here is it .

A new photo gallery to see on the website of Philip Plisson. The Painter of the Fleet spent 24 hours with the 33F flotilla at the French Navy base of Lanvéoc-Poulmic in Finistère.

Established in 1956, dissolved in 1999 and recreated in 2011, the 33F depends on the Navy and is a major unit of the sea rescue on the French Atlantic coast. Lanvéoc-Poulmic Naval base also host the 32F flotilla that had the same missions. By example, it's the crew of the famous Belligou Alpha who, on the night of March 16 to 17, 1978, evacuated the 44 crew members of the tanker Amoco Cadiz, in weather conditions where Superman would have hesitated to wet his cape... Because of changes in the Navy organisation, today only the 33F manage sea rescue, using the brand new NH-90 "Caïman", the naval version of this helicopter. Here, seafarers sometimes call the 33F "The guardian angels" and, surely, people who have been saved since its creation will not say the opposite...

As you can read on Wikipedia, "Peintre de la Marine" (Painter of the Fleet) is a title awarded by the Minister of defense in France to artists who have devoted their talents to the sea, the French Navy and other maritime subjects. It was set up in 1830 by the July Monarchy and can be awarded not only to painters but also to photographers, illustrators, engravers and sculptors.

An interesting 3D animation here , to see the project of the extension of the port of Lorient, connected to "Sailing city" inside the K2 bunker of the former Keroman submarine base...

EDIT : But this is an amateur work, because we don't see the bolts on the tractor's weels...
