Hats off to the port admiral of Brest who did not hesitate today to order the intervention of the tugboat Abeille Bourbon, one of the most powerful French tugboats, to give assistance to Hight Strenght, a chemical tanker 180 meters long in trouble off Glénans, an archipelago of small islands off Finistère.
Finally, the crew of the chemical tanker has manages to master the damage of engine and to resume its cape for Amsterdam, having been escorted by the Abeille Bourbon up to the rail of Ouessant.
Then, of course, there are already idiots with short memory which shout about wasting, which ask "who is going to pay ?", which criticize that "we" got into a panic fast for not much… The same doubtless who would have been the first ones to grumble if Hight Strenght had run aground without we make nothing … We are not in France by chance…
I prefer to see this chemical tanker returning quiet in Amsterdam, Glénans saved from a massive chemical pollution and the Abeille Bourbon doing the job for which she was built. Job that she does very well, moreover, if we make the good decisions at the right time, what was the case today. Bravo thus to Jean-Pierre Labonne, squadron admiral and current port admiral of Brest.
EDIT: Oops, sorry, i made a mistake on the port admiral's name; it's Jean-Pierre Labonne (and not Laborde). Forgiveness

Look, I spoke about it recently, the season of the storms which appears gently...
Then for Sunday we announce here between 7 and 8 on the Beaufort scale... On the exposed coast, we could reach gusts to 120 / 130 km/h...
Small introduction, nothing exceptional...

French Ministry of Defence announced today the planned dissolution for 2014 of the 110th Infantry Regiment based in Donaueschingen in Germany and part of the BFA, German/French Brigade.
According to French Ministry of Defence : "This decision in no way affects the full commitment of France in the BFA and our desire to promote the use of this great unit, as recalled by the military planning law being discussed in Parliament."
So it’s planned to replace the 110th RI by another unit that we don’t know for the moment.
French Ministry of Defence insist on his will to maintain the operational condition of the BFA, saying: " We also maintain our commitment to the principle of cross-stationing of French and German troops in France retain a workforce stationed in Germany equivalent to the German forces stationed in France (about 500 personnel) level."
Well well… But my question is basic and remains the same since the creation of the French/German Brigade: « What for? »
