With all this stories of mechanics
, i forgot to specify a point (the first one who tells me that i ages and that i have a faulty memory, he's deprived of M&M's for life....
)
This date of November 27th for the Submarine-Day in France was not chosen at random, it commemorates the exploit, on November 27, 1942, of the French submarines Casabianca, Le Glorieux, Le Marsouin and L' Iris which, instead of sinking themselves, escaped from the port of Toulon under bombardments and at the price of the worse difficulties (mines, anti-submarine nets,... ).
The Casabianca, Le Glorieux and Le Marsouin will successfully manage to reach England and will continue the fight beside the Allies against the powers of the Axis.
In honor of Commander Jean L'Herminier , boss of the Casabianca , the main access way to Keroman bears his name.
Here we are, duty of remembrance executed and oversight repaired
NOTE : The Wikipedia topic about Jean L'Herminier is only in French. Honestly, i think he desserves more but maybe it's also one reason more to learn about this man and this soldier...

Well guys, let's close here (temporarily of course, because we are far from having said everything) this Keroman topic with something which could be in the Makes us smile forum...
The private companies, which gradually settled down on the site since the 2000s and which work in the domain of sailing, rigging, sea races and others, have just made a big decision.
According today's press here , these companies wished to federate around a specific name, to distinguish their existence and their economic activity compared with that one generated by museums and public departments of the historical heritage. Until here, nothing special.
What makes me smile in this story, it's the name which was chosen: "Lorient La Base" ( " Lorient The Base " ). Dixit the press, i quote: " This is the outcome of intense brainstorming by members of the associated companies of the sector. They even had created a committee for this purpose. "
Indeed, having successfully managed to call the base of Lorient " Lorient The Base ", it's doubtless a serious challenger for the year's intellectual performance trophy...

A little serie by night about the Xmas illuminations here.
These pictures were taken in the gardens of Alsace-Loraine square, the parvis of Notre-Dame de Victoire, main church in Lorient and actually the main plaza in the city center.
For information, this work was made by the people of the local non-profit association Idées Détournées, a kind of collective who recycle basic industrial materials from their primitive use in a way of artistic expression.
This group is well known here and also a bit in Germany since they were guest last year in an exhibition in Berlin, presenting a full collection of women wardrobe entirely made this way, using trash bags and other materials.
Idées Détournées does exist since several years already and regularly apears during local festivities and events all along the year, always showing something new and often really creative, popular and successfull.
More about Idées Détournées on their website here .
So, here's the millenial Xmas tradition in the Idées Détournées way...
Well, a bit of technic, about these pictures. They all were taken in ambiant light, no flash, full manual mode and all automatisms switched off (indeed, sometimes it's a real pity to hear this poor autofocus tweeting, buzzing and rumbling again and again in the middle of the night by trying desperately to make the point, it sounds a bit as 6PO and D2R2 sneezing, you see, and also it disturbs the sleeping seagulls so shut up, you Japanese automatic marvel, there's a human pilot in this plane, you know...). So, i used the tripod for stability and my personal nose radar for the exposure parameters (At least, this one can work without any battery...). So, the exposure parameters are something about 20 or 25 or 30 seconds at f-22 or f-27, 100 ISO. The difference of rendering is due to the integration or not integration of the city lights on the plaza, nothing to do with any of the i don't know how much options in the i don't know how much menus which come with this electronic didlo and which i didn't even read yet. In the 90's, with my Nikon FE2 and FM2, we didn't talk about any color temperature stuff, hu ? Well, finally, i like this post 9/11 toy when i can talk to him as i did with its regreted ancestors, i guess...
On my way back home, a kind of UFO, very representative of the modern spirit which was chosen to rebuilt the city of Lorient in the 50's / 60's, after its entire destruction during WW2 :
Introducing the Halles of Merville, central city market and "the" local sanctuary for fresh fish and sea fruits.
Note that the artwork on the circular wall is permanent.
Quick turn to the city marina, just behind my building... Real sailors don't illuminate only the trees...
That's all for today, folks !

As several times a year, sessions of simulated landings on aircraft carriers (ASSP) are planned for next week at the Lorient Lann-Bihoué navy base.
As explained at the beginning of this video by the commander of the Landivisiau navy base, present days, no nations have simulators for this purpose, because phenomenons of swirling winds cannot be modeled or put in mathematical equation today.
So no miracles, as usual pilots will be trained on ground during these ASSP sessions and, as usual, some stupid and/or IQ negative people will grumble against this fucking French army who disturbs a bit their peaceful comfort, forgetting that she protects them, maybe not because they deserve it but because she cannot do else, i think.
That was one of the reasons why i didn't continue in the army, i was not granted to refuse to protect stupid people at the risk of my life...

Well, if there is any hope why not offer your support
I don't know why all these armies start playing Arma and have a war/fun online

C'mon Snow, if i offer my support as an ALAT veteran, i'll be kicked by some Navy veterans, i guess...
EDIT : I also remember when the naval commando here had an helicopter training over the harbour, there were people for complaining that "they make too much noise"... Oohh, poor lady, they prevent you to watch your favorite Santa Barbara episod, maybe...? Pffff, so much stupidity there, if i could i'll answer them that they have to close their mouth, so we'll have less noise a bit... Really, risking your life as a soldier to protect such kind of people ? To coexist with them is already pretty enough...
