Well NL, don't know. The only thing i know is that this VDSL line should be able to provide average 50 MBps download, so the measured value match with it. About the ping, i don't know, i just know that the line is rent by my provider, it's not his property. In France, the lines were built by Orange (formerly France Telecom called here "the historical operator" when it was a State company), and thus they are his property, Other providers, as SFR (my provider), Free and Bouygues Telecom just rent it to Orange, so i don't know about this stuff of direct connection or not
For me, i just know that, with such values, i can work well and it's fine for me if it lasts, at least until i get the optical fiber.

As far as I know your "street cabinet" to where your copper cable goes should be pretty close to you. The street cabinet is connected to the central connection point in your area with glass fibre, the central is probably connected to the provider with glass fibre as well.
So if there are any problems they most likely reside in the copper cable between your house and the street cabinet.

Yea, i confirm, the street cabinet is just in front of my window, on the opposite pavement, maybe let's say 25 or 30 meters. I agree with you, i smell the same, if problems remains it's between the cabinet and my home, or maybe inside the technical cabinet of the building itself. By experience, i'll say that it's probably inside the building itself, because it's one that we call in France "
HLM
" and we know here that they don't make much efforts to provide a "state of the art" installation in such "low cost" buildings so, considering these parameters, i guess i'm not so much under-served.
