Warrant Officer Benjamin 1st regiment of Chasseurs d'Afrique, based in Canjuers camp in the Var, managed an unthinkable 3695 m shooting with his gun CheyTac .408 M200
Three years of preparation were needed for the adjutant, armored platoon leader 1st regiment of Chasseurs d'Afrique (1 RCA - Canjuers) and his team to surpass the previous record in 3400 m. "In June 2014, during a training session at 2960 m, we managed to put 4 of 7 bullets into a target of 200 cm x 200 cm. It was at that moment that we realized extraordinary abilities caliber 408 CheyTac, ideal for long distance shooting. "
Yet that August 22, 2015, at 19:30, all the conditions are not met to achieve the feat. The sun begins to set and the wind does not fall.
"To avoid over heating the barrel of the gun, the first series are short with 6 cartridges per series."
During the third series, the cartridges are close to the target. Two meters before the base of the target, a few centimeters in front of the target ...
The third and fourth shots through the target at its center.
This shot on a competition target type C300 130 cm x 120 cm at a distance of 3695 meters beating the previous record of 3400 meters
