Don't know if i have already spoken here about this serie, but just in case ...

This serie is a French one, called "Les grandes batailles" (the great battles). It was made by Henri de Turenne and Daniel Costelle and was broadcasted on the French TV during the 70's (at the time when the TV was not only a so called "entertainment" but had also a mission of education ...).

There are several episodes available on the web, all of them are of course in French but they are interesting by including footage documents and testimonies by real actors of these events.

Here's one of them, the #8 / 11, called "La bataille du désert" (The desert battle), as an echo of the previous post by Juanma here ...

EDIT : Just for saying, i'm always impressed, when i watch these series, by the really good French speaking of the foreigners who are interviewed, as the Italian colonel or the English officer here. Also, in the episode of the battle of Stalingrad, there are former Russian officers who speak a very good French, really.

I discovered this one some years ago at the public library here and found it pretty good.

Based on actual events , the story of the sacrificed "Unit 684" commando ...
