Well Snow, of course, as special forces, the operations managed by the 13th RDP are classified but, in fact, you can consider that this unit is always involved in France's external operations. Something as 'first to go, first to know"... And, if this unit is not known as others French units, as 1st RPIMa or Naval Commandos, it's maybe finally because it's a part of their job...

Hervé Gourdel, another French ostage, was beheaded today by the islamic state.
On this one, i agree with French president Hollande : "Hervé Gourdel is dead because he was French, because his country, France, fights terrorism."
Frankly, nothing surprises me, coming from these barbarians, and nothing will make me cry when we'll decide, here in this country, to take effective, and definitive, measures against them, EU or not EU... EU can keep sleeping, talking, making its usual belly dancing and spend its time calibrating the bananas, we will not let such barbarians cravenly murdering defenseless people and we will not wait for the EU to finish scratching its ass for that. Sorry, but on this one, Paris and Washington have much balls than Brussels and Strasbourg, inter alia. What they imagine, these governments who never want to get wet just because that takes place far away and just because they claim not to be concerned? They believe seriously that they will be saved if they keep a low profile in front of the inhumanity? Pffff... After all, they do what they want, for me i prefer a government who shows its face rather than its ass and, if i feel anger today, at least i don't feel shame.
EDIT : After that, that nobody comes to ask me naively why the rejection of the Islam is more and more growing in France...
EDIT 2 : Here's what the spokesman of the European diplomacy, Catherine Ashton, said about it : "The barbaric murder of French citizen Hervé Gourdel is an affront to the values and universally recognized rights". She add that "no effort should be spared to be brought to justice all the perpetrators of these crimes."
"This heinous crime is further proof of the determination of the affiliated EIIL to continue and expand their strategy of terror groups," said the EU.
"The European Union is more than ever united in its commitment to support international efforts against these terrorist groups that threaten regional and international stability." (Underscored by me).
Oh, really...? Maybe it's because of my eyesight but in any case it's not obvious to me, Miss Ashton... But it's also true that a speech and a posture of circumstances, it's pretty cheap, and financial stability and deficit reduction remains a priority, isn't it...? So, keep singing, EU...

I am of agreement with you Nikita, and when I hear François Hollande says Hervé Gourdel died because it is French. Absence of negotiation of ransom (what is done in an abstract way), but unfortunately for our compatriot the cases of the State are empty. President Mr. Hollande did not want again to reconsider his declarations in the war against the Islamic State in front of the European Union and to show that France is a strong nation, by sacrificing an average compatriot. I believe that this sad event will slow down the heats of our President and will re-examine our strategy to eliminate this plague

Here's a link
to a page of a blog that i read frequently. I provide the translation of the comment made there by M. Christian Lebreton.
" Let's look beyond the only situation in France! Because they were our countrymen, we pay special attention to always remember the names here recalled by Philippe Chapleau. But always associate their names those of James Foley, Steven Sotloff, David Haines, and many more!
For it is not just a matter between France and these barbarians. Any more than it is not a business between Western and these barbarians. They are called terrorists or otherwise, they simply declared war on Humanity. And in this war, no singularity can emerge from our side. Only the overall look makes sense, and only the general and unified reaction allows to hope for salvation. "
Do i have to clarify that i fully agree with him ? Do i have to clarify that, now, i wait for the concrete translation of Mrs Ashton's words?
Maybe the strategy of Mr. Hollande is questionable, why not? But we don't have to accept criticism coming from those who do nothing.
