Good job guys :gj:

Also good comment by psygone via theguardian.com

Congratulations Iran, the EU and the P5+1 nations.

Unfortunately for Iran, the sanctions have caused a negative 5% GDP recession rate in 2014, inflation at 25% and unemployment levels hovering around 20%.

This agreement and the easing of sanctions will help bring another 1 million barrels of Iranian crude oil to market in the coming months. Thus further benefiting the global economy with lower prices. Hopefully its economy will rapidly rebound.

Thankfully Russia has lost one of its few friends in the Middle East as Iran now pivots towards Western markets and away from isolation.

-- Iran has been quietly approaching the EU about gas exports.

After Russia and the US/Canada, Iran has the world's 3rd largest proven reserves of natural gas. While still a couple years away, the prospect of Iranian exports to the EU will provide much more competition to an unreliable Gazprom and increase the EU's gas diversification strategy.

All in all, this is great news.

best regards

The French Ministry of Defense announces :

Dutch hostage Sjaak RIJKE, kidnapped in Timbuktu on November 25, 2011 by a terrorist group, was released today by combat action of the French special forces. Mr. RIJKE was evacuated safe and secured in Tessalit, on the French temporary base of Operation BARKHANE.

During this operation, the French special forces "neutralized" two terrorists, two others surrendered.

Yeah I just read it. As I understand it was a coincidence they found Sjaak but that doesn't make it any less good news for him and his family.

So thanks to the French special forces :gj:

Yeah, Operation Barkhane is complex and involves 3000 French soldiers (officialy, because special forces actions are always classified).
Also, 500 Dutch soldiers are involved in the MINUSMA.

Coincidence or not, it's always a good thing to neutralize terrorists, dead or alive, and also, of course, to release hostages safe.
